Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) is set to become a trailblazer in the UK’s green energy sector as the first commercial-scale facility producing advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Located in Teesside, LGF is a pioneering initiative by the Alfanar Group, a global leader with over 45 years of expertise in manufacturing, construction, engineering, and project development. With a renewable power portfolio of 2.5GW, Alfanar is driving innovation across hard-to-decarbonise sectors, such as aviation, to help build a more sustainable future.
As a Design Specialist at Alfanar Group, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive brand identity for LGF. My role involved developing the logo, crafting the visual identity, producing a brand book, and creating promotional videos for various events and occasions to ensure consistent and engaging communication across all platforms.
Project Goals & Objectives
The primary goal of the Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) project was to establish a strong, cohesive brand identity that reflects the innovative and sustainable nature of the facility and its mission to produce advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). As the UK’s first commercial-scale SAF producer, LGF needed a brand that communicates its leadership in clean energy and its pivotal role in the future of aviation decarbonization.
Key objectives included:
Create a Distinct Visual Identity: Develop a logo and visual identity that captures LGF’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and forward-thinking.
Ensure Brand Consistency: Design a comprehensive brand book to ensure cohesive visual communication across all media, from digital platforms to print materials, aligning with the global reputation of the Alfanar Group.
Engage Stakeholders through Promotional Content: Develop promotional videos to communicate LGF’s milestones, mission, and impact during key events and occasions, ensuring stakeholder engagement and public awareness of the project’s significance.
Support Alfanar’s Broader Mission: Align the LGF brand with Alfanar Group’s long-term focus on providing sustainable solutions for hard-to-decarbonise sectors, helping to position the company as a leader in the renewable energy space
Target Audience Understanding
LGF’s target audience includes a diverse range of stakeholders, such as investors, industry partners, government bodies, and the broader public interested in sustainable energy. Understanding the needs, values, and expectations of these groups was essential. I focused on developing a visual identity that appeals to environmentally conscious audiences while also maintaining a sense of credibility and authority for more corporate or governmental stakeholders.
Logo Design Process
The logo for Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) was developed with a focus on maintaining continuity with the Alfanar Group’s established brand identity while creating a distinct mark for LGF that communicates its mission of sustainability and innovation.
Typography Selection
To maintain visual continuity with the parent company, the logo leverages the same font family used in the Alfanar Group’s branding. This choice ensures a seamless connection between LGF and the wider Alfanar brand, reinforcing trust and consistency. The selected typeface is modern, clean, and highly legible, reflecting LGF’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to transparency in sustainability.
Color Palette
The color palette for the logo follows Alfanar Group’s branding guidelines, incorporating shades of green to symbolize sustainability, growth, and environmental responsibility. The green tones not only represent LGF’s core mission of producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel but also link the logo visually to the renewable energy sector.
